The Pharma BI business intelligence system is a tool supporting business (ad-hoc) analysis, which enables the creation of reports and statistics from data, and later on these reports and statistics can be analyzed from different business aspects (sales, marketing). The data come from reliable sources, from heath institutes, based on contracts made with them, and from the National Health Insurance Fund (OEP).
Management summary By today, the pharmaceutical industry has become one of the most profitable businesses in the world, despite strong state regulation and price influence. Due to the acquisitions and mergers, the pharmaceutical industry is becoming more and more transnational. High research costs make this industry highly concentrated, however it is still less concentrated than other industries. This and the declining health conditions of the people (people’s growing health needs) increase market competition between local and multinational manufacturers, between large corporations and smaller companies. Drug manufacturer and distributor tasks Besides the traditional tasks of research and development, production planning and implementation, sales and logistics, the present market situation forces drug manufacturers to put bigger emphasis on increasing their competitiveness. To achieve this, companies need to work out and implement different sales and marketing strategies, based on the in-depth study of market players, either by consumer behaviour or by region.
